CBC Guwahati Concludes Two-Day Outreach Programe on Census 2027 and Nasha Mukt Bharat

Goalpara, August 19, 2026: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Guwahati, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, concluded a two-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) at West Goalpara College in Goalpara district on Wednesday.

The programme, held on August 18 and 19, focused on Census 2027 and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, with various awareness activities organised for students and members of the public.

Shri Kripa Shankar Yadav, Additional Director General, North East Zone, attended the inaugural programme as the Chief Guest on August 18. He stressed the importance of public awareness about the upcoming Census and called for collective efforts to promote a healthy and drug-free society.

Dr. Rofiqul Islam, Senior Medical and Health Officer (Psychiatry), highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse and spoke about the importance of prevention, awareness and timely intervention.

Officials from the District Social Welfare Department, Census Department, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Panchayat and Rural Development Department and Child Development Project Office (CDPO) also participated as resource persons. They interacted with participants on issues related to Census 2027, government welfare schemes, public health and drug-abuse prevention.

An exhibition on Census 2027 and Nasha Mukt Bharat was organised as part of the programme. A free health check-up camp, conducted in association with the Goalpara District Health Department, also provided medical consultation and basic health services to the public.

The outreach programme also featured cultural performances involving music, drama and traditional presentations to spread messages on the two themes in an engaging manner. BIS officials conducted an awareness activity on quality standards and consumer-related issues.

The two-day programme aimed to strengthen public awareness about government initiatives, encourage community participation and promote greater understanding of Census 2027 and the importance of building a drug-free society.
