Assam CM Meets Amit Shah, Discusses Flood Response and Rehabilitation

New Delhi, August 24, 2026: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday and briefed him on the flood situation in Assam, the damage caused by the recent floods and the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

During the meeting, Sarma apprised Shah of the extent of the damage and the steps being taken by the Assam government for relief, rehabilitation and restoration in the affected areas.

Amit Shah acknowledged the scale of the flood damage and assured the Assam government of the Centre’s support for rehabilitation and restoration efforts. According to Sarma, the Union Home Minister remained in constant touch with the state government throughout the floods.

After the meeting, Sarma said on X that he had also discussed several other important matters concerning Assam with Shah. He expressed gratitude for the Home Minister’s guidance and support, and highlighted his attention to detail and commitment to a secure and stable Assam.

The meeting reaffirmed coordination between the Assam government and the Government of India in responding to the challenges caused by the floods and supporting rehabilitation and restoration in affected areas.
