Assam SEC Extends Star Campaigner Guidelines for Silchar Municipal Election

Guwahati, August 29: The Assam State Election Commission has extended the validity of its earlier guidelines on the maximum number of Star Campaigners for the upcoming Silchar Municipal Corporation Election.

Under the guidelines, recognised national or state political parties can nominate up to 20 Star Campaigners, while registered unrecognised political parties can nominate a maximum of 10.

Political parties must submit their list of Star Campaigners to the District Election Authority within seven days of the election notification, with a copy also submitted to the Assam State Election Commission.

Parties seeking permission for their Star Campaigners to campaign must apply to the District Election Authority at least 48 hours before the scheduled campaign event.

The Commission has directed all political parties to strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines and timelines.
