PM Modi Pays Tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri in Tashkent

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 30 paid floral tributes at the Shastri Memorial in Tashkent, marking the 60th anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s passing away in the Uzbek capital.

PM Modi later visited Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, where he interacted with Indologists and scholars at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre.

This year also marks 80 years of Hindi teaching at the university. During his visit, PM Modi announced the Lal Bahadur Shastri Scholarship for Hindi language for Uzbek students.

The university has a strong tradition of teaching Hindi and other Indian subjects, reflecting the close cultural ties between India and Uzbekistan.
